Grassroots Human Rights Defenders from Usenge in Siaya County are in need of a pro Bono Advocate to help in presenting two men who were arrested by Usenge Police last week and arraigned in court.
The two Stephen Omondi and another one only known as Dancan were charged with preventing the police from discharging their mandate at a Siaya court, were each given a bond of KSh50,000 which they couldn’t raise and are currently remanded at Kombul prison in Siaya to be produced in court again on Wednesday the 7 September 2016 according to a local Grassroots Human Rights Defender who sought to speak on condition of anonymity.
The Usenge Grassroots Human Rights Defenders last week reported to the Coalition for Grassroots Human Rights Defenders that the men were being harassed by Usenge OCS, OCPD and DCIO so that they can conceal their shooting by a local police at Usenge Police Station who drives a land cruiser.
“We are requesting for a pro bono Lawyer to help the arrested when they appear in court next Wednesday” said a local Grassroots Human Rights Defender.
The Coalition for Grassroots Human Rights Defenders Kenya is calling for support to the two men who are victims of Police harassment and Brutality.
